Happy Froctober Friday

Frock on

One week down and I'm celebrating with a happy dance, an Elaine Benes-inspired happy dance. My work colleagues; the Frockettes are helping me rock out to Erasure's new single When I Start To Break It All Down.

What I wore today: printed wrap dress (Very Very), blue beads (no idea) and nude Mary-janes (RMK Shoes). See close up of print below:

Now it's almost beer o'clock so I hope you enjoy a happy dance too. Yay!

If you want to make a generous Friday donation, head on over to http://www.everydayhero.com.au/girlbug.

Have a fab weekend and stay tuned for more frocks.

Casual Thursday Frocktober *sad face*

RIP Steve Jobs
Traditionally Thursdays are my go-to jeans day. I usually hit the wall and go with jeans due to lack of outfit inspiration. Today was no better so I opted for a denim skirt instead.

Casual Thursday took an unfortunate turn with the news of the passing of Steve Jobs. It's terribly sad to hear that he has lost his battle against pancreatic cancer. My condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

His passing certainly brings home why so many of us are participating in Frocktober. According to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF), “one woman dies every ten hours from ovarian cancer in Australia.” We're still losing far to many loved ones to cancer every day. Hopefully our silly little escapes in frocks (and skirts) can help shed some light on this and also raise funds for research to prevent further loss.

What I wore today: striped tee (Urban by Target), denim skirt (Portmans), black leggings (Target) and riding boots (The Frye Company).

Stay tuned for more frocks.

Diving into Day 5 Frocktober

My new approach for raising cash-ola for Frocktober is to redefine street-style photography to more bug-style photography. What do you think of my new style? I quite like the face-plant :P

What I wore today: vintage floral dress (little store near Hawthorn station), ♥ ♥ ♥ my black jacket without back panels (Ellison from Alice Euphemia), black leggings with lace trim (Mazi) and green ballets (Tony Bianco shoes).

Closer detail on frock & shoes xx

OK now for the fun stuff! Head on over to http://www.everydayhero.com.au/girlbug and show your support... pretty please.

Stay tuned for more frocks.

Frocktober Tuesday shenanigans

Well there's no better way to end a meeting than with a little afternoon shenanigans. Thanks former Premier Cain for being a big supporter of Frocktober. Who knew, right? And a special thanks to Anna Jones for capturing that special moment :-)

What I wore today: black tank top (Jag), yellow belt (Halsinky Project, Brunswick Street Fitzroy), skirt (who knows where I bought this?), black opaques and black Mary-janes (can they be called vintage if I bought these over 15 years ago?).

Close up of belt

A big thanks to Peach for being an early bird sponsor *hugs* to you!!

Monday-itis Frocktober

First Monday after daylight saving kicks in is never a good day, especially if you're a not-so-proud owner of an iPhone. My alarm didn't go off this morning because my time reverted back an hour. *sigh* With a client meeting scheduled later that afternoon, I needed to look smart not disheveled and manic. I chose a Leona Edmiston long sleeve floral dress with black opaques and black heels. Simple, classic and easy to wear.

Now if only the iPhone with that simple and easy. I had to change my time setting to manual as it either jumped an hour forward or backward throughout the morning. Back to looking disheveled and manic again. LOL.

Day 2: Sunday brunch

Today's uninspired outfit was brought to you by the letters M & B, which any good Melbourne girl knows stands for "Melbourne Black". This is actually a great LBD, it was thrown on in haste as I was late for a brunch date with the gorgeous @starinmelbourne. She's been sunning herself in Europe for the past few weeks and I've missed her terribly. So glad she's back. w00t!!

What I wore today: LBD (Dress Up from Alice Euphemia), black leggings (from American Apparel), black patent wedge boots (unknown store in Paris) and necklace (from Bondi Markets).

Don't forget to head over to http://www.everydayhero.com.au/girlbug and donate. If you want to know a little bit more about the cause, please visit the Frocktober for more details.

Happy frocking!!

2011 Frocktober

And so it begins for another year... another Frocktober.

October 1 happened to be AFL Grand Final day and a return to winter weather. I did have high hopes of being uber organised and having all my outfits sorted. I even day-dreamed of sourcing some dresses for stores and local designers. Of course, I didn't do any of that. In fact I woke up in a "what-am-I-going-to-wear" panic on Saturday. It was a bleak, cold and rainy 13 degree day in Melbourne.

So what's a gal to do?

Head to her local patisserie for a delicious brunch and hide away from all the football hoopla by bunkering down in a cinema for a teen flick. With a twinge of shame, I'll admit I loved Monte Carlo!! PG-rated goodness and sweetness. So thank you Chez Dre, Selena Gomez and @marcusmoments for a totally grand-final-free day.

I started Frocktober with my go-to casual look that you may have seen last year (heaven forbid - repeats).

What I wore: Angel style frock (purchased somewhere in Ireland), camel-coloured coat with hood (from The Coatman, Elsternwick), green tights (from Topshop), silver heels (op-shop), twisted scarf (hand-made), black handbag (gift from Vintage Princess) and black umbrella (borrowed but never returned ... oops).

First day of outfits down and a month of me asking for $$ begins. Please head over to http://www.everydayhero.com.au/girlbug and give generously to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.

After all, it's a frocking good cause. :)

Thanks,
Girlbug xo
